Weighing Technology
Upstream from the bag packing machines is a weighing and dosing arrangement that weighs and portions the bulk goods using several weighing cells. In order to increase the performance and precision of the net scales, the feeding of the product is divided into coarse and fine flow.
In order for the weighed and portioned bulk material to be conveyed reliably to the bagging machine, it is necessary to have a precise knowledge of the behaviour of the bulk material, of the right dosing organs and of the material characteristics.
The dosing organs are divided roughly into the following categories:
Flap Feeding
Flap feeding is for the even supplying of free flowing weighed goods in the high-performance range. The quantities of weighed goods supplied during the coarse and fine flow depend on the flow speed of the weighed goods and the dosing cross-section that has been released.
Typical Applications: plastic granulate, fertilisers, crops, sugar
For weighed goods that are not absolutely free flowing, the balance can be equipped with a stirring device.
Typical Applications: Grit, clay, feed meal
Belt Feeding
Belt feeding is used for the dosing of bulk goods that are not free flowing and that require gentle treatment, so that the specific structure of the bulk material is not damaged. It can be used with a very diverse range of products at a higher level of performance and achieves unusually high levels of accuracy. The quantities of weighed goods depend on the belt speed and the dosing cross-section.
Typical Applications: chunky feed, pellets
Vibrating Chute Feeding
The vibration is especially used for difficult bulk goods that require gentle treatment. These are normally non-free-flowing, powdery or coarse-grained, flaky to chunky.
Typical Applications: flake feed, coal, charcoal, minerals
Screw Feeding
Screw feeds are suitable for the even feeding of non-free-flowing, meal-type or powdery weighed goods - available in single or double-screw versions depending on the performance requirement. To meet the requirements for sorting purity and hygiene, it is necessary to integrate cleaning doors, reversible screws, discharge valves for emptying residue and/or designs for wet cleaning.
Typical Applications: flours, powdered milk, minerals
Weighing Technology - Gentle, Fast and Accurate
Precision:
Thanks to the continual further development of the weighing mechanism and the accompanying electronic controls, the level of accuracy that can be achieved has been substantially improved. With a performance of up to 1,000 vibrations per hour, it is possible to stay within the following deviations from the target weight:
- with Sigma1 (68.0%) 7 grams
- with Sigma2 (95.0%) 10 grams
- with Sigma3 (99.7%) 15 grams

Speed
Thanks to the vibration-optimised mechanical construction, the increasing of the drive movements using servo-motors and the acceleration and optimisation of the product flow, it is possible to achieve an increase in performance of up to 1,500 fillings per hour with ONE balance.
